Picture this: you’re sailing the Grand Line, defending the Shiganshina District, or hanging out in Konoha. One thing’s for sure—anime is an adventure you live, not just watch.

Once you start, you’re hooked. The Watch List explodes, and binging becomes your new superpower. But here’s the thing: it’s not about speed—it’s about soaking in every moment. Ready to level up? Here’s how:

.001 Learning Nihongo (Japanese) would be the ultimate flex, but let’s be real—that’s a long-term project. In the meantime, here’s how you can ACTUALLY get the most out of your anime obsession:

  1. Pick quality over quantity. Don’t just blast through shows to keep up with your Watch List. Find something that fits your vibe, whether it’s action, slice of life, or some off-the-wall fantasy. And you know THAT one friend who’s always telling you to watch their favorite anime? Yeah, maybe give it a shot - they might actually have good taste.

  2. Read the Manga. Finished an anime and felt empty inside? Dive into the manga. It’s like getting bonus content- extra storylines, character moments, or stuff they couldn’t cram into the adaptation. Trust me, the source material hits differently.

  3. Join the anime community. Whether it’s on Reddit, Discord, or even a random forum, connecting with other fans is half the fun. You can share theories, fan art, memes, or just freak out over plot twists together. Plus, you’ll probably find someone else who’s crying over the same characters as you. The next thing you’ll know, you have a room of collectible items.

  4. Watch with the OG Seiyuu (Japanese voice actors). Watching anime in Japanese with the original voice actors has a whole vibe. These Seiyuu don’t just voice characters—they bring them to life. For example, Goku (Dragon Ball) and Luffy (One Piece) are both voiced by the same legend, Mayumi Tanaka. And if you’re into tsundere characters, Rie Kugimiya (a.k.a. the “Queen of Tsundere”) has got you covered with icons like Taiga (Toradora!) and Louise (The Familiar of Zero). Trust me, the energy they bring is next-level.

  5. Subtitles? No problem! Ever found yourself on a free streaming site only to realize—no subs? Don’t panic! Substital, a handy browser extension, has you covered. It lets you upload subtitles or find them online, turning any site into a seamless anime binge station.

The best part? Substital is super simple to use, and—wait for it—it’s totally FREE! Whether you’re catching up on a classic or diving into the latest release, it ensures you never miss a line of dialogue.

Want to learn how it works? Check out their Getting Started guide.

At the end of the day, anime isn’t just something you watch- it’s something you experience. So slow down, enjoy the ride, and let every episode pull you into a whole new world. Kyaaaaah!

disneyplus

The most awaited integration is LIVE! 🥳 🎊

Now it is possible to add Substital on Disney+ to watch any movie or TV in the language of your choice.

This integration calls for a new post here! From the outside, it might feel like an obvious thing to have support for every player, but a lot of effort goes in to maintain the code, keep it running for all different players and react fast to any changes on them.

So kudos to the team! Maybe we celebrate this achievement by watching our favourite marvel movie on Disney+. 😄 Hope you enjoy watching on Disney+ too!

If you encounter any issues while adding subtitles to Disney+ or any other streaming platform, leave us a message on Telegram or email us at support@substital.com

learning

If you’ve ever tried to or successfully learnt a new language, you would very well know that it requires a lot of time and dedication to master. It takes months of rigorous practice to get a good grasp of a language.

Learning a language is way more than learning vocabulary and grammar. The perceived meaning of a sentence or word can drastically change based on what tone was used to say it. It is often related to the culture and customs of why certain expressions exist. And this makes language learning even more exciting and fun.

The idea to bring Substital to life came in 2016 when Gaëtan wanted to watch Breaking Bad online but could not find a platform where he could watch it with subtitles.

While looking up solutions for it online, he realised that there was no good product out there but enough people who faced the same issue. Being a dev himself, he siezed the opportunity and started working on what is today Substital!

Fast forward to now, it is a passion project for 4 people and here is a glimpse of the team!
